I love the idea of using plastic Easter eggs for purposes other than hiding candy, and these Easter egg rockets from the STEM Laboratory are such a fun way to get a little more use out of your eggs.
She used little chick and bunny eggs from the dollar store, which have the benefit of feet to stand them upright. If you don’t have eggs like this you might want to try standing your egg up in an old egg carton just so it will shoot up and not sideways.
She says the egg tops don’t shoot too high, but remember to keep everyone’s eyes safely away from the egg while the experiment is in progress.
This looks like so much fun I’m definitely adding the ingredients to my shopping list.

I had no success with this. I purchased the exact same eggs from Dollar Tree. Tried with 1-2 Alka Seltzer tablets more than 5 separate times with different eggs from the pack just in case one was faulty. None popped. Thank goodness I did it at home before distributing to the entire class to try. Would have been quite embarrassing and a let down for all.
