Pumpkins are starting to show up everywhere these days and they’re a fun way to bring in some seasonal learning activities. If you plan it right, you can do a bunch of different activities with just one pumpkin (or one pumpkin per kid if you’re doing this in a small classroom rather than with your own kid).
Fun Learning for Kids has a great list of 10 activities to do with one pumpkin that would be great for preschool and early elementary school.
From scooping and baking to counting, drawing and sprouting, there are lots of great, easy ideas that will get you thinking about even more ways to use a pumpkin.
Throw in some books about pumpkins, maybe drawing or painting a pumpkin and eating some pumpkin and you’ve got a whole unit study ready to go!
