Fall is just around the corner, and your little ones are sure to be interested in the changing colors of the leaves.
Did you know that the color leaves “turn” in the fall in actually in the leaves all the time, it’s just the chlorophyll the leaves make during the growing season that covers it up? As the weather gets cooler, the tree stops producing cholorphyll, and as it breaks down the colors “turn.”
Gift of Curiosity has a fun little printable project to show how this happens. You’ll need to have a laminator or some plastic sleeve protectors to do it because you need to be able to rub off the green dry erase marker to reveal the color underneath.
The post has links to videos and other information that’s perfect for using in the classroom or at home during the fall.
I can’t wait for a nature walk in the fall leaves. What are you most looking forward to about the changing seasons?
