Every teacher of preschool and early elementary that I know (and a lot of the parents, too) seem to have a vast collection of plastic caps from milk cartons and other places. These can come in lots of fun colors and are great to use in art projects and other ways.
I like this bug and bottle cap matching activity from Learning 4 Kids because if you have caps and plastic bugs it’s super simple to put together.
If you don’t have plastic bugs, use counting bears, or beads, or pompoms, or anything else you have on hand in those colors that can fit somewhat into the caps.
This is a great fine-motor skill activity as well as color sorting, and naming bugs if you use them, too.
Head to the blog for all the details.
