I always wanted to make a set of felt letter pillows/sofites for my daughter. I did make felt letters to use on a felt board, but I never made the stuffed version. It seemed like an awful lot of work — and I’m sure it is, but probably not as much as I set it up in my mind to be.
And there are lots of fun things you can do with stuffed felt letters, some of which are explored in this tutorial post from Buggy and Buddy. She didn’t make the whole alphabet either (or hadn’t at the time of writing, anyway), but was using the letters to help her daughter recognize the letters in her name and to begin to learn how to spell it.
Even a partial alphabet would allow you to play with some sight words, spell the names of members of your family and invent games using the letters. Plus they’re just really cute.
Have you ever made a felt alphabet, stuffed or otherwise? I’d love to hear about it!
