My daughter always says fall is her favorite season because she loves to play in leaves, but there are a lot of fun activities we can do with leaves beyond just making a big pile and jumping in it over and over (though that’s always fun, too).
Dayna from Lemon Lime Adventures has collected 10 fall sensory ideas that have to do with leaves, from making leaf-shaped bowls to sensory jars, leaf “confetti” and using leaves to learn the letters of your name.
And yes, jumping in leaves makes the list. It’s a great activity for proprioceptive play (a fancy word for knowing where you body is in space and its relationship to the world around it) and of course it’s just fun.
Do you have favorite fall activities to do with kids? I’d love to hear about them.
