It seems like a lot of classes do a weather unit in the spring (at least where I live, where spring weather can be, shall we say, interesting with tornadoes and other severe weather). Making your own weather observation tools for the classroom or home use is a fun way to get kids interested in the data of weather.
Edventures with Kids has a post all about how to make a barometer at home. If it’s been a while since you’ve had a weather unit, a barometer measure air pressure. When pressure drops, that means a storm is more likely. Weather Craft kits and Activity books.
You can make a barometer at home with supplies you might already have. Observing the measurements daily (the post includes a printable you can use) your kids will be able to predict if the weather is going to be good or bad on any given day.
