Montessori materials are beautiful and great for kids learning about letters, numbers and other basics, but they can be really expensive.
One of the classic Montessori early learning materials is sandpaper letter cards, which I found can run up to $50 in a quick search on Amazon.
Surely there’s a less expensive alternative, and there is, and it’s not too difficult if you have a cutting machine.
Tried and True has a great tutorial for making your own Montessori sandpaper letters, and they’re really cute. Cutting them all out by hand would certainly be a hassle, but if you have a Silhouette or similar machine that makes it a lot easier.
I love this idea for helping little ones learn their letters and basic spelling on a budget! We never used sandpaper letters but if you have I’d love to hear about your experience with them.
