I am a big fan of celebrating Mardi Gras, probably equally because of the food and the beads. Kids love the colorful beads that are often distributed at parades this time of year, and you can get a ton of them by going to a parade or doing a little shopping at a dollar store.
Using Mardi Gras beads in learning activities for little kids is a lot of fun. Beads can be sorted by color, style and length, measured and counted and weighed and lots of other things.
Books and Giggles has a great list of Mardi Gras learning activities for kids that can be done with beads.
How do you use beads in learning? I’d love to hear about it!

With summer coming on in the Northern Hemisphere, I feel like we all need some fun activities we can do with one kid at home or a bunch in a classroom when it’s too hot to go outside (I guess you can say the same for if it’s too cold to go out in the Southern Hemisphere, too).
