Lots of kids love Pokemon, and lots of people have pulled together learning activities, crafts and other fun things to do with a Pokemon theme. This might be fun to do in the classroom around the holidays or before a long weekend, or you can use these ideas at home when kids are home for a break or the weather is lousy and you want something fun to do that’s not playing Pokemon Go.
If you are wanting to use Pokemon (particularly Pokemon Go) in the classroom, Teaching Ideas has some ideas for writing and math activities for older kids, though they need to be players or be teamed up with a player to make these work. Alternatively kids who haven’t played it, could, for example, write about why they don’t or make up a story about someone who does.
Mother Natured has some fun activities inspired by Pokemon critters. I particularly like the classification of Pokemon creatures into different animal types, because it gets kids thinking about the qualities of different critters and how they relate to real-life animals.
