Go dig in your cupboards to find the supplies you need to try this weather-related science experiment with the kids. All you need is a clear cup or jar, some shaving cream, food coloring, and water. Before they did this rain cloud experiment, Stephanie, from Parenting Chaos, and her kids did some research to learn about where rain comes from and how rain cloud forms. Once they understood rain clouds, they appreciated and had a lot of fun making their own. Weather Craft kits and Activity books.
Learn how to make a Rain Cloud in a Jar.
Liz says
You can do this with a jar, some pantyhose, ice cubes and a match. Just put hot water in the jar for a few minutes then pour all but about 1/3 of it out. Secure the pantyhose to the mouth of the jar with a rubber band and pile 4 or 5 ice cubes on top. Light a match over the jar and blow the smoke into the ice. You can watch a cloud form in the jar and even watch condensation happen as the ice melts.
