I have colored rice and noodles for craft projects and sensory play, but I have never thought of coloring dried chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans). Dyan, from And Next Comes L, made these for her kids to play with and then shared the directions with us. Besides chickpeas, all you need to color the chickpeas are liquid watercolors and tip-top plastic bags. If you don’t have liquid watercolor, you could try food coloring but the colors may not be as bright. Weather Craft kits and Activity books.
Dyan thinks they look a little like Skittles, and I must agree… If your kids agree with this though, make sure they don’t try to eat them!
If you want to try your hand at this project, read these how to make rainbow chickpeas directions.
