Last year my daughter’s classroom theme was emojis. I don’t love the way these have taken over as decor, but they could be an interesting way to talk to kids about emotions.
The Curious Kindergarten wrote about using emojis with playdough, giving kids eyes and hearts and pipe cleaners to make different emjois.
In addition to playing and making emojis, you can talk about the feelings represented by the icons and what might cause a person to feel that way.
They even played a “guess the emoji” game that got the kids talking about expressing emotions even more. What a fun idea for using something the kids already love in your lessons!
