At the beginning of the school year and throughout the year it’s important to have a good handle on where your students’ skills are, what they already know and what they might need more help with.
Mrs. Jones’ Creation Station has a great collection of free math assessment tools for beginning math assessment. It covers things like:
- number recognition and formation
- rote counting
- shape identification
- color identification
- position words
- patterns
- exploring numbers
There are printables for worksheets and other materials to use in your assessments, as well as a form to fill out as they work through it. This is a wonderful resource and parents could use parts of it, too, to check how their kids are doing on early math concepts before school if they wanted. It’s great for homeschoolers, too.
Do you have any tools or tricks for math assessments? I’d love to hear about them!
