My daughter is in first grade and her class is a little obsessed with cootie catchers (aka fortune tellers). She likes to make them a lot, and other kids her grade and a little older do, too.
Which is just part of why I think these math cootie catchers from 123 Homeschool 4 Me are brilliant. They capitalize on an interest kids that age already have, and they get them playing with math, which is always a good way to learn.
This set is great for preschool, kindergarten and first grade, and includes cootie catchers for number recognition, addition, subtraction and doubling, and they use numerals, tally marks and fingers so kids learn to count them up in different ways.
There’s no fortune at the end but maybe you can give kids a sweet surprise when they get the answers right. These are so cute!
