If you’re familiar with the PBS Kids show Peg + Cat, you’ve probably seen that several of the stories take place in a pizza place, and there is a lot in the show about sharing fairly and dividing things using fractions.
So it makes sense that you could use the show (there’s also a companion book with a printable activity guide complete with pizzas that can be decorated with toppings and divided into various parts) to help teach fractions.
The Measured Mom did a whole post on how she used these items with a preschooler and a kindergartner to help teach the basics of fractions. Older kids would like decorating and dividing up the pizza, too, and what could be better than pizza in the math area?
Head to her site for all the details and links to the activities.
