Christmas is generally a “traditional” time of year but sometimes old style themes are quite lost on today’s children. Every year we put snowflakes on the windows and my mother puts up her fake fireplace. Yet my children have no concept of snow at Christmas time and none of our houses has ever had a fireplace (not a real one at least).
I have taught well over 100 craft classes for children and the one thing I can tell you is that if kids do not relate to their project then no “creativity” will shine through.
So, here is a fun way to theme your Christmas decorations to something your little ones can relate to. This Disney Junior Jake And The Never Land Pirates Christmas door wreath is lots of jolly fun and all the kids who come to our door love it. If you use it year after year, it also adds a little “time stamp” for remembering when your kids were young.
Because let’s face it, they grow up way too fast.
==============
To make this Jake and The Never Land Christmas Wreath, you will need:
- A lifebuoy ring or polystyrene wreath (from a craft store) and rope (hardware store)
- Themed Jake And The Never Land Pirates Party Plate (from a Party Store)
- Gold Coins (Party section)
- Sword (Dress up section)
- Skull and CrossBones sticker or printout
- Christmas sign and Christmas bows.
When you have all these items, the rest of the instructions on how to make this Christmas wreath fall into place, especially if your kids love watching Jake and The Never Land Pirates on Disney Junior Channel. (Disney Junior The Channel is where magical storytelling comes to life! Available in all Foxtel subscribing homes in Australia; channel 709 and Fetch).
Start adding the embellishments on to the lifebuoy ring. The kids can help you to design and create the layout.
We used a quick drying clear craft glue instead of Hot Glue so that the kids could get involved and help create the perfect family wreath. And that is it!
