I don’t know if any of the winter holidays are really associated with fireworks (New Year’s maybe?) but this is a fun science experiment to do with kids when you want to have a little STEM celebration.
STEAM Powered Family has all the details for these sparkly experiments, which use baking soda, vinegar and glitter to make a foaming “explosion.”
Make it more Christmas with red and green glitter or use fake snow instead of glitter for some sparkly winter fun.
You might even have all the supplies on hand for this one so keep it in mind for one of those “I’m bored” moments over winter break.

Fall is a great time to learn about and observe the birds in your area, but you can do this any time of year. Whether you’re watching from a backyard or a playground, you’re sure to find a few birds and can learn about the birds that are native to your region in any case.
