I think every child goes through a phase of being really interested in maps. At least they used to; I guess kids these days don’t always see maps that aren’t inside a phone.
But if you know a child who is interested in maps, you will definitely want to check out this printable city from Teach Beside Me.
She has streets, buildings, cars, lakes and trees that kids can lay out however they want, in a bunch of different ways to build their own town.
There’s a color version and a black and white to save on ink and give kids the chance to customize their cities even more.
This printable will run you $4, but I think it’s more than worth it for a great indoor activity that will keep kids busy in the hot part of the day, or for use on rainy or snowy days.

Several countries have a day set aside to honor and recognize their inventors, but Nov. 9 is a special one that’s known as Tag der Erfinder in German. It’s celebrated in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and it falls on Nov. 9 because that’s the birthday of Hedy Lamarr.
