DIY Tugging Box Activity for Toddlers

April 27, 2014 by Sherri Osborn 1 Comment

DIY Tugging Box
This project is so simple you will be surprised at how entertained it keeps older babies and young toddlers. I will admit, for as long as I have worked with kids of all ages, I had never heard of a tugging box until I found this project.

To make one of these tugging boxes, you need a small cardboard box and a variety of ribbons, felt strips, and pipe cleaners. Use a pencil or something similar to punch holes all over the box and thread the ribbon and other items through the holes. This activity box not only gives the child a chance to work on fine motor skills and offers a fun sensory experience, it even helps them learn about cause and effect and much more.

Learn how to make your own Tugging Box.

What ages do you recommend this activity for? I have a 7-month-old, and I think he would enjoy it, but not sure if it’s too advanced for him.
