Pi Day is coming up 3/14 and if you’re a math teacher or just a teacher who likes to have a bit of geeky fun with your students, We Are Teachers has some great Pi Day activities to use in the classroom (or at home for that matter).
I love the Pi Day chain, because even little kids can enjoy the concept of a number that goes on and on and representing it with different colors of paper chain. There’s a Pi song that will help you memorize to 100 digits, a pi card game, pi puzzles and even pi-ku (pie-shaped haiku)!
Check their website for even more fun ideas. Do you celebrate Pi Day? I’d love to hear about it!

Knowing the alphabet is the basis for learning how to read, so it’s important to get it down. Kids need to know the differences between letters, to be able to recognize their shapes and to know what sounds the letters make individually before they can start combining them in words.
