Have Fun with Giant Coloring Pages

December 30, 2025 by Sarah White 1 Comment

If you’re reading this around the time I published it, we’re in that kind of lull period where many people aren’t at work, the kids aren’t at school and no one knows quite what to do with themselves. It’s the prefect time for spending all day reading, doing puzzles, or breaking out a giant coloring page.

If you have a printer and coloring tools, you can entertain the whole family with some of these supersized coloring pages. And of course these are great any time of year no matter when this post finds you.

Hattifant has a variety of large coloring pages mostly for various holidays, like this giant heart that’s great for Valentine’s Day or any other time of year. But some of them aren’t as seasonal, like this one called kitty on the plant shelf. It’s a full 18 pages to print out, so that should keep you going for a while.

The Crafting Chicks has four free printable tablecloth sized coloring pages that are more like adult coloring pages with flowers, feather shapes and geometric shapes. They suggest sending the files to a print shop so the pattern can be printed all in one piece, which makes sense but I would probably try to print these at home all the same.

I love this doodles giant coloring page from Academy Print Shop on Etsy (which also recommends professional printing). This one looks like one that kids would really enjoy coloring and adding their own little doodles to.

If you’d prefer a giant coloring page that comes printed, try the giant 6 foot mandala coloring page from Tiny Expressions Store. This one is printed on a no-bleed paper so you can use markers, crayons, gel pens or even paint, or a combination of all of the above.

Or try this pretty butterfly coloring page form Craftatopia. This one is 6 feet by 3 feet and the description says it uses premium paper suitable for markers, crayons and colored pencils. My butterfly loving kiddo would love this one!

My kids and I are going to have so much fun with these giant coloring pages. We work on them as a family while watching movies.

Easy Pen and Paper Games for Road Trips and Beyond

When my daughter was younger I would spend a lot of time trying to come up with activities she could do in the car on long road trips and things to entertain her when we were waiting at restaurants and things that didn’t involve screens.

But it turns out there are a lot of great activities you can do with just a piece of paper and a pen.

What Do We Do All Day has a great collection of pen and paper games, including some that can be done with just one person, though they’re all more fun if you have at least two.

There are some classics on here like hangman and dots and boxes, but there are also quite a few I hadn’t heard of before.

I don’t want to spoil the whole list for you because you should definitely click over there and look around, but I will share about the one that you see pictured above.

This game is called Bridges, and you start by making the big random shape and the dividing it into a bunch of sections (the post says 30-50 sections is ideal but I think this one is smaller than that).

Each player gets their own color marker and you take turns drawing bridges from one space to another, crossing a third. Once there’s a bridge, no other bridges can start, end or cross in those spaces. Keep going until no more bridges can be built, and the person who makes the last bridge wins.

Check out the post over at What We Do All Day for more great ideas for no or almost-no prep games you can play with your kids or that kids can play together. I’d love to know if you have a favorite paper and pen game, whether it’s on this list or a different one.
