Summer Activity Printables for Kids

July 4, 2023 by Sarah White Leave a Comment

I know summer is not the best time for learning activities, or at least kids aren’t often into learning activities at this time of year. But it’s a great idea to have some printable activities available for those “I’m bored” times, or when it’s too hot to go outside, when you’re on a road trip, or there’s just not anything else going on. Here are a few great summer activity printables for kids to get you started.

This printable from Artsy Fartsy Mama includes a word search and crossword puzzle with a summer theme.

Views from a Stepstool has a cute summer bingo card set, which includes both words and pictures for kids of different ages.

Grab this super cute memory game printable from Ayelet Keshet. It has 24 pairs of matching cards but you can use fewer of them for younger kids.

123 Homeschool 4 Me has more printable summer games, including I spy, memory and a domino game.

Help kids learn colors with a summer twist with this summer mini book of colors from Real Life at Home. And speaking of colors, you can also use these color by sight word coloring pages from Sara J Creations to slip in a little learning while you’re having fun.

Tot Schooling has an amazing printable pack for toddlers through pre-k that includes a whopping 37 educational activities. From tracing to counting, pattern recognition, I spy games and more, you can grab it all for free when you sign up for emails. And Itsy Bitsy Fun has some great printable file folder games that teach counting, shape and color matching and more.

For older kids, do a math problem every day with these summer math printable calendars from Math Geek Mama.

Summer playdough mats are a fun way to bring some seasonal vocabulary into your playtime. Grab these from Sea of Knowledge.

Planes and Balloons has a bunch of printable worksheets, coloring pages and activities with a summer theme. Shown is a Popsicle shapes worksheet.

Shark Week Learning for Kids

Shark Week generally happens in July, but any time is a good time to learn more about sharks.

First, start with some fun whale facts like these from Kids Craft Room. Here I learned about the dwarf lantern shark, which is the smallest shark and only grows to about 6-8 inches (about 15-20 cm) long. It also emits light. How cool is that?

Natural Beach Living has some great printable shark information guides, where kids can learn about different kinds of sharks, match the facts to the pictures, or print out doubles and do a shark memory game.

Living Life an Learning has some great shark activity pages including the parts of a shark, types of sharks, a crossword puzzle and more. Also check out their parts of a shark and word scramble download, and a life cycle worksheet.

Learn about how sharks float with this great activity from JDaniel4’s Mom.

Need more facts about sharks? This fact pact from The WOLFe PACK on Teacher Pay Teachers includes fact sheets, a printable flip book, informational text, vocabulary, comprehension questions and more.

Living Montessori Now has a great collection of shark themed activities with a Montessori inspired twist. You’ll find a shark roll and cover, shark phonics and lots more shark activities Deb has collected from all over the Internet.

Remember the “Sharknado” movie? A Few Shortcuts turned the combination of sharks and tornadoes into a fun science activity. You’ll need a bottle connector for this project but otherwise should have everything you need on hand. Use their template to make your sharks out of aluminum foil. So fun!

You can also do some shark themed coloring with these coloring pages from Encouraging Moms at Home. Or make a cool 3D shark with this template from korkotak. And there are tons of different shark crafts collected in this post from Kids Activities Blog.
