There are so many fun ways to make and decorate hearts and Valentine’s Day themed stuff! These projects are great to do with a class or at home, and they can be used to decorate the classroom or as gifts to parents or other special people in the child’s life.
This pretty printable heart wreath from Krokotak takes a bit of assembly but it’s a lot of fun to color and then to see the wreath come together. I love the idea of a bunch of these hanging from the ceiling in a classroom, or even used as door decor. There are both photos and a video showing how to assemble it.
Grab some happy trash, paper, paint and other supplies to make these mixed media love bugs from Art Camp LA. These are so fun and every one will look different because it’s totally kid directed.
The stained glass heart shaped suncatchers from Adventure in a Box are fun and easy to make, and you don’t have to limit kids to traditional Valentine colors (or even heart shapes!) if you don’t want to. They’re made with black glue, which adds an extra crafty element since that’s something you make yourself (and you might want to do in advance if you’re doing this with a bunch of littles and don’t want them to help with that step!).
Help your kids show their friends how much they rock with these easy heart rocks from Red Ted Art. Alternatively kids can paint hearts, flowers, encouraging messages and more on their rocks. Make a rock garden in the classroom or distribute them on the playground for other kids to find.
Arty Crafty Kids has so many great Valentine’s Day art ideas I couldn’t limit myself to sharing just one. I love these cardboard hearts, which would be another great classroom decoration, and these heart art projects inspired by Kandinsky and Romero Britto. That one includes templates you have to be a member to download, but just looking at the pictures might inspire your own art projects, too.
