I know it’s not technically winter yet, but I usually consider it winter either after Thanksgiving/December 1, or whenever the first snow falls, and that second one already happened here in Arkansas (hard though that is to believe). So it’s high time to pull out the snowflakes and winter animals and books on hibernation, right?
Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls has a nice collection of easy to set up learning activities for preschoolers with a winter theme, including salt writing with penguins, patterns with snowflakes, ice melting, playdough play and more.
These are great ideas you can use right now and alter to do with other objects at other times of the year.

Michaelmas is variously known as the Feast Day of saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael or the Feast of the Archangels, and it is generally celebrated on September 29 (or November 8 in Eastern Christian calendars). In England it also marks the end of a quarter both financially and academically (if you’ve ever read a book that talks about Michaelmas term, this is what it’s talking about) and historically the end of the farming year, when accounts would be settled.
