15 Fun Ways to Play with Sight Words at Home

March 17, by Sarah White. Leave a Comment

fun sight words games for kids

Beginning readers need to learn those sight words, and it’s really a matter of just seeing them over and over, thinking about them and, yes, playing with them that can really help them learn them.

Sight words are the foundation of reading, because they help build confidence and make it easier for them to read as they gain more vocabulary.

There’s Just One Mommy has collected more than a dozen fun sight word games that you can play at home with your little reader or that could be used in a small classroom setting. Her blast off sight word game is one my little one would have loved, because she has always loved space. I also like the sight word bang game, which is fun for kids who like the little Pop-Its noisemakers you can buy cheaply by the ton around the Fourth of July.
