
Using melted crayons is a great way to teach kids about pointillism. Not sure what pointillism is? Merrian-Webster defines it as “the theory or practice in art of applying small strokes or dots of color to a surface so that from a distance they blend together.” You can use the flat end of a crayon, melted by candles, to create your own pointillism masterpiece. Jessica, from Inteidance, and her daughter created rainbows in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, but you can create any sort of picture you like.

Knowing the alphabet is the basis for learning how to read, so it’s important to get it down. Kids need to know the differences between letters, to be able to recognize their shapes and to know what sounds the letters make individually before they can start combining them in words.
